Solutions are the homogeneous mixture of solutes in solvents. However, the number of solutes in solvent is generally different to make different types of solutions. And the concentration is the amount of the substance in a given quantity of the solution.

You must be wondering why we are discussing concentration, substances and more terms here when the topic is Molarity Formula. Actually, Molarity is the way to express concentration in Chemistry.

It is written as M and given as the moles of solute per litre of the solution or per kilogram of the solvent as shown below in the formula.

Molarity Formula

\[\ M =\frac{mol\; solute}{L\; solution}\]
\[\ M =\frac{mol\; solute}{kg \;solvent}\]

When you are working in a lab then this is quite easier understanding moles in the solute instead of their masses. With the help of moles, you can find how many particles of solute are there and how are they working with the balanced equations.

In this way, calculating molarity is quite easier when you are doing the same practically. If you know the moles in a solute and total amount of solution, just divide them to find the Molarity.

Molarity generally depends on the changes in physical properties of the system like temperature, pressure, or mass etc. Here is how Molarity is presented in the form of symbols –

\[\ M =\frac{n}{v}\]

Here, M is the molality of the solution that is to be calculated, n is the number of moles of the solute and V is the volume of solution given in terms of litres.
