The mass percent is just an excellent style for expressing the concentration or describing the amount of component in a particular mixture. The composition of the solution is generally defined in terms of mass percentage that presents the mass of a solute in a given solution. The quantity of solute is usually expressed in terms of moles or mass. In the case of a solution, the mass percent is defined as the grams of solute per gram of solution and it is divided by 100 ahead to get the value in percentage.

The mass percent formula in Chemistry is given as –

\[\ Mass\;Percentage = \frac{Mass\;of\;Solute}{Mass\;of\;Solution} \times 100 \]

The mass percentage is just an excellent style for presenting the concentration of an element within a compound or component of the mixture. Although mass percent is unit-less it can be given with units as well in special cases. The comparison is done in the form of masses, not by the volume. It would be interesting to check that denominator is the mass of the entire solution, not the solvent.

When mass percent is used to find the concentration of the solution, percent by mole is typically used to calculate the percent of an element within a group of molecules. In typical cases, it may be tough sometimes to find the percent of a mole in a solution. If those values are known in advance then the overall calculation could be irrelevant in the end.

When this is not possible calculating mass then density can be used here to calculate the mass percent for unknown compositions. There are two popular methods ahead for finding the mass percentage. It can be done either directly or you can use the calibration curve too.
